Sealing your Granite, Marble or Natural Stone Countertops

A good sealant is an important step to clean countertops. As long as your countertop is properly sealed, it will be easy to clean. We recommend STONETECH BulletProof Sealer (available at our store) which is easy to apply and food-safe. Doing this prolongs the life of your stone's finish. Luxury seals your countertops upon installation, so you should only need to seal your countertops every 1 to 4 years after installation, depending on the type of stone. You can always do the water test or contact us to find out if your stone needs to be re-sealed!

Granite needs to be sealed every couple years in order to be optimally resistant.

We encourage our customers to use the Water Test every 1 to 2 years to determine whether they need to reseal their stone.

Here are the steps:

1. Note the time, and put a bit of water on your countertop,

2. Leave it for 5 minutes,

3. If the water is not bubbled, and has soaked in within the 5 minutes, you should re-seal your countertops. If it is still bubbled, your stone is doing well with it's previous dose of sealant.

We do recommend you seal your stone every 1-2 years if it is more porous or lighter in colour, 2-4 years if darker, so this is a good way to check when it's necessary.
